{"id":3783,"date":"2016-11-15T19:31:54","date_gmt":"2016-11-15T18:31:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www1.asja.energy\/en\/?p=3783"},"modified":"2017-02-24T18:25:15","modified_gmt":"2017-02-24T17:25:15","slug":"co2-in-atmosfera-raggiunto-il-punto-di-non-ritorno","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asja.energy\/en\/news-en\/co2-in-atmosfera-raggiunto-il-punto-di-non-ritorno\/","title":{"rendered":"Co2 in air crossed the point of no return"},"content":{"rendered":"[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<strong>30.09.2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Atmospheric CO<sub>2<\/sub> concentration<\/strong> permanently passed the <strong>400 ppm<\/strong> milestone, i.e a symbolic threshold for climate change reduction efforts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.climatecentral.org\/news\/carbon-dioxide-passes-400ppm-milestone-for-first-time-in-modern-human-histo\" target=\"_blank\">The first time<\/a> when the <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Oceanic_and_Atmospheric_Administration\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>NOAA<\/strong><\/a> observatory at Mauna Loa, Hawaii, <strong>recorded an amount of CO<sub>2<\/sub> in the air above 400 ppm<\/strong> was on May 9th, 2013. April 2014 was the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.climatecentral.org\/news\/april-becomes-first-month-with-co2-levels-above-400-ppm-17367\" target=\"_blank\">first month<\/a> in human history with CO<sub>2<\/sub> levels above 400 ppm every day. However, this value shows seasonal variations \u2013 typically reaching the peak in May and the base in September &#8211; and therefore the yearly average was still below the mark. But <strong>the trend was clear<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, in 2016 all months have been over the threshold so far. This record is going hand in hand with another alarming figure: August was <strong>the eleventh month in a row to set a temperature record<\/strong>. Last May someone <a href=\"http:\/\/www.climatecentral.org\/news\/co2-are-we-permanently-above-400-ppm-20351\" target=\"_blank\">was already wondering<\/a> whether <strong>the value would have been under 400 ppm<\/strong> by fall or not. In order for the agreement to enter into force, <strong>it must be signed by no less than 55 countries<\/strong> \u2013 already done \u2013 <strong>representing at least 55% of global carbon emissions<\/strong>. Italy is among the countries still missing, in good company with several EU member states. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theenergycollective.com\/davidhone\/2388310\/paris-ratification-maths?platform=hootsuite\" target=\"_blank\">EU in fact<\/a> should take China and United States as an example \u2013 just for once.
