{"id":4124,"date":"2016-11-20T14:24:50","date_gmt":"2016-11-20T13:24:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www1.asja.energy\/en\/?p=4124"},"modified":"2017-02-24T18:24:41","modified_gmt":"2017-02-24T17:24:41","slug":"al-politecnico-di-torino-inaugurazione-del-centre-for-sustainable-futures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asja.energy\/en\/news-en\/al-politecnico-di-torino-inaugurazione-del-centre-for-sustainable-futures\/","title":{"rendered":"IIT Centre for Sustainable Futures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>11.11.2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On November 10th, 2016, a new r&amp;d centre for GHG reduction technologies was launched at Politecnico di Torino.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The most significant outcome of the COP21 agreement reached in Paris last December, i.e. the goal of holding the increase in the global average temperature <strong>to well below<\/strong> 2 \u00b0C above preindustrial levels, is unlikely to be meet with existing technology.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the development of new low-carbon technologies, as well as the improvement of already existing ones, is necessary to reduce the impact of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>For this very reason, the new CSF@PoliTo &#8211; Centre for Sustainable Futures \u2013 has been created by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iit.it\/it\/centri\/csf-polito-torino\" target=\"_blank\">Italian Institute of Technology<\/a> (IIT) and Politecnico di Torino.\u00a0The Centre was launched on November 10th, 2016,in the Aula Magna at Politecnico di Torino.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of the Centre, Prof. <strong>Guido Saracco<\/strong>, opened the ceremony by describing the fields of research on which the project will focus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>use of CO<sub>2<\/sub> as raw material for the synthesis of chemicals, materials or fuels;<\/li>\n<li>the development of production systems fed by renewable energy sources and following the distributed nature of these sources;<\/li>\n<li>low temperature heat storage and exploitation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then, several representatives of the research, economy and industry took part in a roundtable discussion on climate change issues to express clear policy proposal for a rapid adjustment of the national contest to the current pace and magnitude of global warming.
